Weekend Recap: A Perfect DINK Weekend

Some weekends just hit — and this was one of them.

Friday kicked off with a little romance: Eric and I went out for a cozy date night dinner before linking up with friends at a club. The night was fueled by Tito’s, bad dance moves, and a whole lot of laughter. 10/10, no notes.

Saturday was both hilarious and wholesome. Eric ran the Ice Cream 5K — yes, you read that right. Midway through the race, runners had to eat an entire pint of ice cream before continuing. He crushed it with his friends, and I volunteered as a race documentarian (a.k.a. the very sweaty, cheering paparazzi). Fun fact: Eric placed third in the dairy division. Absolute legend.

Post-race, we grabbed coffee (matcha for me, always) with his running crew and soaked in the lazy Saturday morning vibes. After our Friday night antics, a nap was very necessary — so we recharged before heading to our local bar for a late lunch/early dinner and the Phillies game. Mid-game exhaustion hit, so we snuggled up on the couch for a bit before rallying.

Then came the high walk — one of our favorite traditions when the weather’s good. We walked for about an hour to get to our next stop: Dad Rock Night. Think Nickelback, Green Day, Kid Rock, and Weezer — all blasting in a dive bar that fully embraced the “divorced dad with a Harley” aesthetic. It was chaotic in the best way. We ended the night with late-night cheesesteaks and, shocker, more sleep.

Sunday started slow and sweet. Eric went for a very long run (7-8 miles?? who hurt him?) while I slept in until 11 like a true queen. We spent the early afternoon cleaning the apartment, then headed to a local street festival where we ate, drank, and definitely spent more money than we should’ve. Worth it.

The weekend wrapped with another Phillies game — this time an infused win (go Phils!) — and just like that, our perfect little DINK weekend came to a close.

It was one of those weekends I’ll tuck into my memory as a reminder of how good life can feel — spontaneous, simple, and shared.
