Weekend Vibes: Zoo Lights, Family, Open Mic Magic, and the Perfect End to Summer

This weekend was exactly the kind of mix I live for—music, family, friends, and just soaking in the little moments. I’ve been constantly spinning Sabrina’s new album, so it basically became the soundtrack to everything.

Friday kicked off with a little adventure—Zoo After Dark with some friends. Seeing the animals at night somehow made everything feel magical, and we ended the night dancing at a club, laughing and letting loose like only we can.

Saturday was all about family and memories. I got to see my two-year-old nephew being his adorable self and meet my newest little nephew, born just last week. We spent the day with my parents, Eric, my brother, and sister-in-law, watching College GameDay, cheering on football, and just enjoying each other’s company. Afternoon naps happened (yes, Eric and I fully embraced them), followed by more college football into the night. It was cozy chaos, and I loved every second.

Sunday had a slower, productive rhythm—moving a few more things from Jersey to Philly. The transition is slow, but it’s perfect because neither of us feels overwhelmed. That evening was one for the books: my second open mic! Eric and his friend came along, and it felt so special to have strangers cheering me on. I heard some incredible poets and shared my own piece—I’m still filled with awe thinking about it. We capped it all off with karaoke, then a slightly tipsy, two-mile walk from South Street to Fairmount, just laughing and soaking in the city lights.

Today was a chill close to the weekend: more moving, grocery shopping, naps, cuddles, and quality time with Penny Girl. This weekend reminded me how perfect simple moments can be and was honestly the ideal way to end summer and welcome fall.
